Lisbon, 60s Portugal continues to live immersed in an authoritarian regime, governed with an "iron fist". News circulates that some attempts have already been planned and made to overthrow the regime, but all of them without success. Jack Barbosa, the most brilliant spy living in Lisbon during the period of the 2nd World War, becomes a known opponent of the regime and plans to overthrow it. He ends up being caught and imprisoned, his whereabouts or fate unknown. Years earlier, he met the woman of his life who secretly becomes his lover. Amélia. After years of living with Jack, she learns and acquires various spy skills with the subtlety that only a woman can have. After Jack's disappearance at the hands of the regime, Amelia swears to continue his mission, to avenge his disappearance. Not long after, this beginning of the end happened with the "misfortune" of the leader's fall from a chair. But just like in Jack's story, not everything is as it seems...
