About the escape room
The first book ever printed in Portugal was produced in Faro in 1487 by Samuel Gacon. A work of a religious nature called the “Pentateuch”. The only known copy of the first edition is on display at the British Library in London. It was taken by Francis Drake when his forces sacked the city at the end of the 16th century. What Francis Drake didn’t know was the importance of a loose sheet hidden in the book. A manuscript that allowed the population to escape when the city was attacked or besieged. Find it and you will know how to Escape! You are locked in a room. You have 60 minutes. Will you be able to find the Hidden Sheet and escape?

AI Overview

AIReports highlight original puzzles well tied to the historical context, with a carefully crafted atmosphere. Paulo’s hosting gets a lot of praise. There are occasional complaints about technical glitches, a poorly done reset, and an area that’s too dark with a hand‑powered flashlight. The challenge is balanced and families with children can get out.
WeaknessesSome point to a very dark section that relies on a manual flashlight and makes it hard to see locks and objects. There were also cases of a mechanism not triggering and a puzzle without a proper reset, breaking the flow. These are exceptions, but when they happen they dull the shine.
StrengthsClever, fun integration of real Faro facts. Attentive Game Master and spot-on hints. Immersive setting and varied puzzles.
SecurityThere’s a clear briefing and guidance throughout the session, which inspires confidence. Even with a low-light segment, the environment is controlled and staff step in if needed.
Level of fearNot horror; kids do fine. Tension comes from the timer and a low-light stretch, with no jump scares.
Actors' gamePaulo is described as friendly, dedicated, and helpful from start to finish. He interacts just enough and steps in with precise hints when the group stalls.
Quality of riddlesCreative, thematic puzzles that, when everything works, are logical and fair. There’s variety and good moments of cooperation. One or another tech-dependent step can fail and require staff help.
PlotThe story revolves around the Pentateuch printed in Faro and the secret leaf lost during Drake’s raids. The mission is to unearth that historical clue and find the exit, no spoilers.
Difficulty levelMedium level: challenging but accessible with a few hints. Beginners and families have fun; veterans also find good surprises.
